the new horizons temptation is rising up again but i think it's because my game rotation has Free Space so to say; like it's weird to describe how my brain works with games ... tomodachi life, hollow knight, and new leaf are my current active rotation right now (aka games i do not need to convince myself to play), but the issue is new leaf and tomodachi life can dry up pretty quickly if you finish your dailies/run out of things to do, and hollow knight i only play on stream
very much annoying when i have games installed i 100% know i love to play but when i look at them my brain is like 'meh, not right now, i don't care' and im like ?!??!?!?!? U LIKE THIS GAME WHY DO YOU NOT WANNA DO IT ... usually when i begin playing it, then i AM enjoying it, but there's the starting barrier that my brain doesn't wanna do it which always sucks to climb over unless it's a 'In Rotation' game

sahara visited today and gave me the meadow floor i desperately wished i could get!!!!! all for sylvie's greenhouse room!!!!! and the starry sky background would be really nice in the study room

finally got QR codes unlocked, so I went hunting for some pathways ... due to the 10 slot limitation (and me not wanting to make more characters to get around that lmao), i decided on using this path, and leaving one slot open for clothing swaps, another for the flag, and the rest for the pathway + one two-slot blanket i thought was pretty cute and i could put in 1-3 placessahara visited today and gave me the meadow floor i desperately wished i could get!!!!! all for sylvie's greenhouse room!!!!! and the starry sky background would be really nice in the study room

I briefly mentioned this, but one of my coworkers was out--one of my team leads, actually. So, naturally, some of my work was backed up due to some of her knowledge being either more specialized or being more thorough than others'. And she had an earlier shift so she was able to answer things earlier and prevent pileup.
In the meantime, I did finish up St. Meridian's next session. All sorts of twists and turns, with the chance for long-lasting consequences later down the line. Ah, La Manchaland, I love you. =)
I plan on making some pasta and drinking a bit tonight, but until the right time, I'll be playing my silly gachas.

what being non sharing is to me
to be fair this is a repost that’s up on my tumblr right now (aka linked from my pinned post) but i thought it’d be nice to memorialize it/save it here too
obviously not as applicable to dreamwidth because you can’t… block tags but LMAO. either way my brain feels the need to overexplain because non-sharing feels like it gets a bad rep overall in people thinking it's literally gatekeeping a canon character or that you'll get attacked for even liking another ship w/that character
what being non-sharing is to me:
- i use tags a lot to just filter out ships (canon and other yumes) for my own comfort (wholeass the only one who even bypasses this requirement is lauma and zl because that's just literally zhongvie i dont make the rules)
- (again this is not to riff on ppl who like those ships UAHDUASD IT'S SPECIFICALLY SO PPL CAN CONTINUE!!!!)
- i just tend to avoid following people back if a yume with him is prominent, or a canon ship appears a lot in reblogs (and/or things aren't tagged properly for me to filter w/o asking)
- i don't partake in/avoid thirst convos if someone is like 'omg i wanna **** him' kinda stuff
- sitting in my own corner with my barbie dolls and making them kiss
what it isn’t/i don’t do:
- i don't block people for having a ship/liking ships with him, unless i get blocked first. i dont see an explicit need to limit my interactions when i can just tag block (unless its twitter, twitter fucking sucks for people tagging shit properly. there i’ll just block LOL)
- i will not make it a requirement for stuff to be tagged for me, i'm usually pretty liberal about hunting down tags myself and thankfully on tumblr people are pretty thorough about it. if someone does offer, it is appreciated!!
- again, i don't want people to feel like they're limited in talking about him/sharing art if i am a follower LOL
- i will never ever tell people they can't like/do ships with him or thirst for him, i'd rather explode. he is a handsome character and i'm glad he gets love!!!!!
trust me i've seen aggressive DNIs from non-sharing peeps to the degree it's like 'why are you trying to control what people do/treating it as a genuine betrayal if someone likes a different ship with your f/o', but i've also seen people think that being non-sharing is literally gatekeeping or that you can't be non-sharing since they're fictional characters that belong to everyone
it's a conversation of healthy boundaries and curating your own experiences by the end. zhongvie to me are an emotional comfort, as sylvie one of my emotional support OCs, and zhongli is one of my emotional comfort faves, so by extension i tend to avoid other romantic ships involving him because of that
i lived in the tumblr roleplay trenches for 10+ years where sylvie interacted with a variety of peepaws that were Not The Same, i know it's all separated into their own worlds and that my peepaw is not THAT peepaw, but the issue is then having to handle it in a world where my peepaw is EVERY peepaw so to say. so, safety is just to curate by the end
anyway a lot of faff just to say i block tags LMFAO

as my school loan payment date approaches i sorely wish i had more design ideas to scrounge up out of my skull to make for carrd templates ... its my tiny niche of 'sellable digital content' that actually works in getting me a little side money (i mean like maybe 100-200 dollars a month, i can pretty reliably get abt 1k-2k yearly off it...? that's with referrals and renewals anyway gathered over the 2-3 years i have been selling) but the problem is i think i burned out some years ago and haven't been able to really come up w/layout ideas for it which sucks
especially when it IS an income to me now, minor as it is ... i love carrd, but its limitations are frustrating sometimes to keep things fresh, and readable (especially when the only real changes to the site have been new icons, some fancy backgrounds, and new fonts ... and not yknow, adding customizable individual column bg colours which i requested as a potential feature...). some roleplay carrds look lovely, but i will say one of my driving forces is being pissed at how inaccessible some of them feel (tiny font, etc), but scrounging ideas for templates without feeling like i'm rehashing something that may already exist is a mental barrier that's hard to work around + burnout
i have considered doing custom website commissions but prices for those are like $40 for a whole layout and that's not quite worth the energy vs making a carrd template once and selling it for like 2-4 bucks
weirdly i feel weirder charging for an HTML template even though that requires far more work ... i guess for carrd the work is already done for you, and because it's a very 'drag and drop' website builder, people feel more comfortable paying for the beefy skeleton and doing the rest themselves, rather than getting a website that may be hard to tweak ... and HTML templates are very aplenty for free on their own
carrd entry plan for like 9 bucks yearly is relatively friendly, and its why i dont go above the pro lite plan myself because 1. it introduces CSS/HTML editing which although i do not mind, creates a potential skill barrier for buyers (at the most i'd do like ... a SIMPLE embed for a page doll or like ... a music player) 2. the BUYER then needs the pro plan which is NOT 9 dollars yearly, and limits my pool of buyers outside of a more casual sphere like a roleplayer, or a starting vtuber, or whatever else people use it for (i used to have my full art info on there, all my roleplay carrds are on there, my personal one, etc)
anyway, this is just offloading thoughts, not explicitly a vent or anything, but i guess a sore reminder to continue uploading my carrds to vgen and to maybe continue the template i started with an idea and hope i dont scare myself out of thinking it's too boring (all this to say i was looking at kobo e-readers and sent myself into a brain rabbithole w/thoughts of income haha ... im still waiting on half of my contract payment and it's very frustrating)
if somehow you got to the bottom, have a teeny preview of my next template i whipped up out of sheer inspo haha. obviously its like the most bare bones placeholder stuff rn cause i work the skeleton out first before anything else (i still dunno what i even wanna theme it as; i usually tend to do game characters or media to use official art) ( Read more... )

new tool unlocked!!! (On-Together: Virtual Co-Working)
aka an impulse purchase but i was sorely wanting some kinda app or something to body double/hang out with my friend; normally we hung out on pony town (and it's a pretty okay/great social hangout tool) but because it's basically the equivalent of a large public chat, it was also VERY easy to get distracted if you're trying to focus on stuff
(great for making unique ponies aka roddy and transformers!sylvie)
i love lo-fi spirit city for solo focusing and the room decorating + character customization, but obviously it's not meant to be multiplayer ... i've heard of on-together but the sudden impulse to get something for both of us bit my ass so i got it LMAOOO
(you can also have a mini version!)
only a few days of using it, but honestly it's been nice for ... well, what it's meant to do: co-working together without relying on a camera; i've very much just played animal crossing while chatting through it instead of something like discord. you can have private rooms, you can join public rooms to work w/others or chat. also has fishing LOOL and a cute map to explore w/different places to hang out. i haven't gone into the public ones bc i just tend to rely on spirit city, but for having a Second Person there that doesn't rely on being in a voice call or anything, it's really nice
the customization options don't feel as ... well OK they actually have furry/anthropomorphic options (literally wolf/cat/bunny heads + tails etc), but i mean more in depth of body variety. spirit city isn't super in-depth with it either, but it feels like it has a little more choices. pet gathering here is more of an ass compared to spirit city since you need specific clothing, and some are locked behind levels which is kinda bleh. obviously as you use it more you get the levels, but the currency gain feels a little stingy right now to buy much
otherwise got the same set of tools which is a nice thing to have: pomodoro timers, soundscapes + music, to-do list, journal, and a task planner for a set week. it's nice to see other people's pomodoro timers above their heads as well, giving that whole sense of 'well people are Seeing Me Working'
(i might actually end up crossposting this on bear blog, might just clean it up a bit though)

yaaay store upgrade done!!! i also realized the meow coupon quests were in my inventory bottom page the entire time ... cause one of the campground van visitors has a bookshelf and bookstack and I NEED IT, cause i wanna make a study room for sylvie's house eventually. as much as i wanna buy furniture though, i need to finish the bridge i started to make travel easier ... i can't wait to get QR codes unlocked for once LOOLin new horizons QR codes make me feel overwhelmed (and it's why i'm going to completely avoid it for the most part on my new island), but with there being no outside decorating in new leaf + i think more limited slots help. i saw this video about using trees to decorate in new horizons which i'll be using in new horizons ... and even in new leaf if i can. well, depending on the tree line where my cedars stop anyway LOL. i think there should be some way to 'stunt' tree growth in new leaf ...

an oomf talked about maplestory private servers. i never grew up on maplestory, i did play it for a bit but not for a long time ... and i wanna at least give the older school servers a try bc many old MMOs to this day that are still alive are so overbloated with systems that it's atrocious (looking at YOU perfect world international) so ... trying it out of sheer curiosity!!!

Finally got the front page for the Psycliff site looking presentable~! I think this one will be a bit slower due to all the typing I'll have to do, but I hope it's worth it.
Secondly, I added a new piece to the BurningPeach website!
Anyway, now with all the good stuff out of the way, I can bitch.
Microsoft is ending Publisher in October--not just in a "we'll stop supporting it" kind of way, but a "FUCK YOU if you use Publisher. FUCK YOU. No PUB files opening for you" kind of way.
So yeah that sucks. I work with that shit. I had to download LibreOffice in order to get access to Draw so that way I can just work on converting my yearly work to ODG files.
I'm only thankful I'd normally have started said yearly work around this time...I'd actually been heading to do that yearly work and got the popup, and then had to scramble.
"But you should be fine this year" no, because then that's 2027 me's problem, and I'm sure 2027 me would not like that problem.
So yeah that happened. I'm pooped.

festivale day today!!! sylvie wanted to buy the ornate feather hat to wear it around so i did, otherwise finally got the store upgrade starting, which is dope ... and i made enough money off beetle farming last night that i could basically pay off the campground public work project AND my house upgrade (almost, i think im like a few thousand bells off but that's nothing LOL)got a kitchen island item bought in preparation since i wanna for sure make a kitchen area, a greenroom, and a general living room ... maybe a library area? thankfully designing for sylvie's house is hell of a lot easier than my own, LMFAO
rizzo moved in today from ... a mutual most likely??? im side eyeing his appearance but he's ok LMAO

dragged my feet finishing the epilogue quest, it's not that i didn't want to but holy heck it felt long for an epilogue quest ... hu tao and zhongli interactions are so funny tho i love them. the whole 'putting the funeral parlour in debt because zhongli keeps putting it on his tab' got kinda tiring by that point, i'm already very tired of the broke jokes for him and hoyo writing doesn't help with that (i dread the alcoholic jokes for venti next patch if he's there lmfao)still didn't do the other event yet tho but ... eh, eventually

I had a decent time last night playing Magic! My brother and I managed to wipe off two people in our quad, and I had him on the ropes before he beat me. I even got one of our opponents to zero because of rad counts.
(I play a heavily modded Mothman deck from the Fallout set. I'm not huge into MTG but I do partake. I actually asked my brother to make a deck based on Spice's destruction.)

Anyway, I started working on the next session, so I have the start of it, and the goal of it. We're going to La Manchaland this weekend, lads~.
I also put up another Caffae adopt today--I had a completed one hoarded in my files, oops.

tomodachi life: ZHONGVIE DATING FR... even though it took ... me save file editing to get a mii to set them up on a date lmfao. at least i can rest easy ... made 3 more miis which are my friend's OCs, edited some realtionships to set up their ships together bc i dont wanna fuck with that. zhongvie i just wanted to happen (semi) naturally for funsies but i dont wanna deal w/them wanting to date miis outside their designated ones
acnl: fishing tourney and i got 2nd... cucked out of the fact that somehow filbert got a giant sea bass that's 46 inches and i could only get at best one that's 41 ... and iirc that's the biggest fish during the day so lmfao. the flower shop opened up today and i got the axe to finally clean out some trees i didnt want in front of the house, set up the campground public project, andddd otherwise didn't do too much
warframe: fuckload of weapon leveling, found a new fave wep in the cedo prime so i'll probably build that eventually, i think im caught up to leveling for now. saryn prime pieces were pretty cool to get, including systems which were a gold drop iirc
i think i've decided to reset my new horizons island, but i may wait until march 20th (i am terribly impatient and want to do it now but i should not when im juggling tomodachi life and acnl as my daily checkin games); reason being bc my first (current) island was made on that day, and i made it sylvie's birthday (unintentionally, it is spring equinox i went for)
